Write a Song provides a format for writing song texts, melodies, and accompaniments for students in grades 4 and up. Through sequentially more complex pieces, students explore the excitement and challenge of creating songs for a variety of real life purposes, including advertising and retaining important information. The CD provides ten tracks with songs in a variety of styles and moods from which students can choose the appropriate accompaniment and melody. Each track has two melodies provided, plus the opportunity for students to create their own. Many helpful hints provide a scaffolding experience for teachers and students alike. Write a Song allows teachers to address multiple standards across the curriculum, while students get excited about learning through hands-on music making.
